War

We continue to be a country at war. While our day-to-day lives have not changed drastically, say as they did during the ration card days of WWII, we are, none the less, a country at war.

Below is a link reminding us of that fact:

While 2500 is a small number compared with the numbers of people who have served a tour or tours in the various combat zones around the world, this represents 2500 people, 2500 families, who just had their lives altered, some of them forever.

The fact that we can be a country involved in major military operations around the world with such little impact upon the civilian population is amazing. It is also tragic, as this means that most people don't understand the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform.

As one of those men in uniform about to deploy (albeit for training and not for war), I am beginning to fully grasp the sacrifice involved.

Let us all remember the cost of war and the cost paid primarily by our troops. Let us pray for them and their families.

Aloha.
