Where did all the time go?

Well, it has been quite a while since my last update.

My father-in-law (Jim) is doing OK. He was transferred to Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Center about 2-3 weeks ago. He hasn't regained any feeling below the waist. He hasn't been able to muster any further movement. I think the little movement he showed earlier was a fluke. So, we are planning for the worst, hoping for the best. He has been doing physical therapy, mostly on his left side, due to the broken ribs on the right side. He was recently cleared to start doing moderate PT on the right side. He has been working hard at his PT and is often exhausted at the end of the day.

My wife and daughter have been able to stop by and see him at least once a week.

We are no longer watching Dominik. After the first 2 weeks, my brother-in-law and his wife took Dominik. That has always been the thought, if anything were to happen to Jim and Robin. But, when this happened, they were too overwhelmed with all of the things going on, so we took Dom (as Mara likes to call him). Cherith still watches Dom Tuesday and Thursday during the day to help out. But, definately not as draining on me.

August 13 my brother-in-law (Micah) and I spent 7 hours rearranging furniture in Jim's house. His master bedroom had been on the second floor. Guest room/office on first floor. So, we moved desk and computer out to porch and flipped the rooms. Of course, king size bed, 2 old, heavy dressers, one with a mirror, you get the idea. Plus, lots of pets, so lots of pet hair to clean up. And, like most of our houses would be right now if we were seriously injured, the house wasn't very organized. But Micah and I did a good job, if I do say so myself. Our wives didn't help, as they are both pregnant and were watching a combined total of 4 kids that day. It was better for us if they kept the kids and themselves busy while we just got it done.

We handed out laptops to over 300 Freshmen Aug 20. (Last Saturday). We had already handed out about 70 laptops and had a few left over for those that didn't make it to the big handout day. Overall, we are expecting 468 new admit, undregrad students, with most of them being new freshmen. So, we have so far had good turnout and good numbers. We still haven't had the regularly scheduled crisis this year. (There has always been at least one). As with Jim, I am hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.

Well, I think that's about it. Other than the National Guard. You remember, that thing I wanted to do and focus on before all of this happened. Well, that seems to be blaming my lack of follow through too much on this situation. I was already slacking before this happened. This has just been a good excuse.

Work has started a fitness program, so that should be extra motivation. I hope.

Aloha.
