ASVAB Test

So, I took the ASVAB test on 2/14. A friend was giving me a hard time about not blogging about it, so here goes.

The ASVAB is the Army's aptitude test. Basically, it tells them what I am qualified for. To go in as an 09S (potential officer), I needed a GT (General Technical) score of 110.

I got a 143. In fact, my lowest score was a 140. Highest was 145. Not sure how high the scoring system goes, but even the highest number I could see for a requirement for MOS (Army job) was a 120. The test said I scored in the 99th percentile. Basically, I did well. My recruiter said he had never seen a score so high. (Take it for what it is worth, coming from a recruiter.) Although, he did ask me to read the score to him twice (in our phone conversation about the test).

So, I am not limited by my score results.

The only concern I have now is that I might get branched some egg-head branch because I did so well on the test.

My branch preferences are as follows:

IN - Infantry
AR - Armor
FA - Field Artillery
MI - Military Intelligence
SC - Signal Corps (computers and networking stuff)
AD - Air Defense Artillery
MP - Military Police
FC - Finance Corps

After that, I don't care where they put me. In fact, if I don't make the top 3, I will be at least a little disappointed. If I don't make the top 5, more so.

Anyway, my concern is that they may see my scores and think "engineering" or "computer geek". I want to be with the people on the front lines. I want to be the one pulling the trigger, not the one shipping that person food.

Anyway, I am happy I did well on my test. Talking with recruiter to see what next step is.

I'll try to keep you updated.

Aloha.

One more quiz - Which Muppet Are You?

I wonder which line you think most got me categorized as Animal?

You Are Animal

A complete lunatic, you're operating on 100% animal instincts.

You thrive on uncontrolled energy, and you're downright scary.

But you sure can beat a good drum.

"Kill! Kill!"
